Uwill Counselor Hosts Webinar on Demonstrating Cultural Competency

July is BIPOC Mental Health Month and to help educate members of our Counselor Community, Uwill recently hosted “Demonstrating Multicultural Competency When Counseling College Students”, a webinar hosted by Antonia Hill, MA, LPC. Hill covered topics such as defining cultural competency, how culture can impact views on mental health, and the importance of understanding knowledge and impact of other cultural identities.

“It’s sometimes easy and comfortable to stay in our bubble but we have to venture out into different places and be around different people.” says Hill “We have to be genuine and authentic. That helps to build the counseling relationship that’s going to be fruitful.

Uwill’s community of more than 1,000 licensed counselors frequently organizes peer-led webinars on relevant topics like this, providing opportunities for education, networking, and earning continuing education credits.
