August Hero of the Month: Lynn M., LCSW
Every month, we spotlight a counselor who has gone above and beyond for Uwill as our Hero of the Month. This month, we are delighted to recognize Lynn Mosby, LCSW, as Uwill’s Monthly Hero.
Since joining the Uwill team in January 2022, Lynn has always gone above and beyond for Uwill. In that time, he’s had over 500 appointments, impacting the lives of students across Virginia, all with a very high feedback rating.
Therefore, this month, we are delighted to recognize Lynn as our Uwill Hero for all his contributions and support for our students and the larger Uwill community. Lynn — thank you again for all you do. We are truly grateful for your support and commitment.
Check out our interview with Lynn as she discusses the impact teletherapy has had on her as a professional, feeding off the energy of students, and tips for students heading back to school.

What excites you the most about working with Uwill?
I love the energy and the honesty of students! They are at a time in their life when often they are making lots of decisions for themselves and identifying what they value and what their future might look like. What an honor to be part of that journey. I also personally love that Uwill allows flexibility with regards to scheduling and puts me in charge of my calendar. The leadership keeps the mission in mind while listening to the needs of clinicians and providing things they value. Uwill rewards quality work and longevity to the company.
Can you illustrate the importance of a student being able to access a platform like Uwill?
The availability to access online and the option to pick a provider that works with their busy schedules is very important. This helps them take ownership of the process and also makes it more likely they will keep appointments. I think the Uwill platform goes a long way in making the idea of mental health more friendly.
What aspect of your work do you enjoy the most?
I enjoy the fresh outlook and honesty of my clients, particularly the 18-22 year olds. They are brave, creative, willing to be transparent, and they seem to benefit and be open to my wisdom at 60. I learn from them almost every session and hopefully I can help them see the long view and gain some perspective.
What are some skills you have learned from Uwill that you have been able to apply in your everyday practice?
I have more than 30 years experience as a licensed clinician but almost all of my work until 6 years ago was in person. If you had asked me before 2020 I would have said you cannot really have as meaningful of a client/therapist relationship, virtually. While I still see value in sharing space, I would say I was wrong! I have done serious work and have established supportive ongoing counseling relationships with lots of my clients and at the same time I have learned the value of just two or three quick sessions to help stabilize and encourage a client. That flexibility and growth in what quality therapy looks like has affected my practice everyday.
What was it that first attracted you to working with Uwill?
The flexibility to work when I had the time, and the ability to challenge myself in a new skill area after a lot of years in practice. As Henry Ford said “anyone who keeps learning stays young. One of the greatest things in life is to keep your mind young.” I think you do that by taking on new challenges!
How has being a member of Uwill’s Counselor Community impacted you as a professional?
It has helped me to grow in new ways to practice my craft. I had to become more adept at technology. I had to work on improving my ability to get the most out of a 30-minute session, just to name a couple.
Would you recommend working with Uwill to a colleague?
Yes! And I have! I just mentioned it the other day to a friend whose daughter is licensed, has young children and is looking for a little more work.
What advice do you have for students who may be struggling as the summer comes to an end and the new school year is on the horizon?
Believe in your infinite ability to solve problems and persevere. Know that you can take one new thing at a time. You don’t have to figure it all out at once.
