September Rising Star: Megan T., LPC
Uwill’s Monthly Rising Star acknowledges one counselor every month who has “shined bright” in support of Uwill in their first year as a member of our counseling community. Congratulations, Megan T., LPC! Since joining the Uwill team, Megan has completed over 100 sessions across Georgia.
Congratulations on this well-deserved accomplishment and thank you for your continued dedication to supporting students on the platform. We’re proud to celebrate this milestone with you!
Learn more about Megan’s first year at Uwill where she shares insights on how Uwill is the first experience with therapy for many students, how she’s made the most of the 30-minute sessions, and how to eat an elephant.
What excites you the most about working with Uwill?
I’m genuinely energized by the opportunity to support students and the flexibility Uwill offers me as a therapist. Being able to show up for my clients in moments when they’re overwhelmed, uncertain, or simply needing someone in their corner is deeply meaningful to me.
Can you illustrate the importance of a student being able to access a platform like Uwill?
Access to a platform like Uwill is incredibly important because it removes the barriers that often prevent students from getting mental health support in the first place. Students are juggling academics, work, family expectations, financial stress, and major life transitions — and many of them have never had the ability or access to seek therapy before. I hear all the time from students that this is their first experience with counseling simply because Uwill finally made it possible. For many, it’s the first space where getting support feels safe, doable, and within reach. That’s a big deal when it comes to mental health because timely, accessible care can truly change the trajectory of a student’s well‑being.
What aspect of your work do you enjoy the most?
I love seeing a new client begin to relax in session. You can literally see it in their shoulders and posture when they realize they’re in a space where they can set it all down for once. That moment — when my client finally feels safe enough to exhale — is one of the most meaningful parts of my work.
What are some skills you have learned from Uwill that you have been able to apply in your everyday practice?
I’ve learned how to make the most of a 30‑minute session without it feeling rushed or crammed. Uwill has really strengthened my ability to show up with techniques that create meaningful impact in a short amount of time. I’ve honed my skills at building rapport, identifying what a student needs in the moment, and guiding the session in a way that feels intentional, supportive, and efficient. It’s taught me how to be both structured and flexible — and that balance has carried over into my everyday practice.
What was it that first attracted you to working with Uwill?
The support they offer their therapists. It’s always nice to know you can join a training, group, or call at any time!
How has being a member of Uwill’s Counselor Community impacted you as a professional?
Uwill has helped me fill my schedule and build new connections. The trainings and learning opportunities have strengthened my skills and confidence, and overall, it’s been a meaningful part of my growth as a clinician.
What advice do you have for students who may be struggling as the summer comes to an end and the new school year is on the horizon?
“How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.”
