Delancey F., LPC, LMHC, NCC

Every month, we spotlight a counselor who has gone above and beyond for Uwill as our Hero of the Month. This month, we are delighted to recognize Delancey F., LPC, LMHC, as Uwill’s Monthly Hero.

Since joining the Uwill team in August 2024, Delancey has always gone above and beyond for Uwill. In that time, she’s had over 500 appointments, impacting the lives of students across Florida and Georgia, all with a very high feedback rating.

Therefore, this month, we are delighted to recognize Delancey as our Uwill Hero for all her contributions and support for our students and the larger Uwill community. Delancey — thank you again for all you do. We are truly grateful for your support and commitment.

Check out our interview with Delancey as she discusses the value of being accessible for students, helping students with their journey for self-discovery, and tips for the summer months.

What excites you the most about working with Uwill?
I truly enjoy working with college students because it’s such a transformative stage of life. College is often a time of self-discovery, increased independence, and significant personal growth. Students are learning not only about their academic interests and future careers, but also about who they are, what they value, and how they want to navigate the world.

It’s a privilege to provide a supportive space where students can process challenges, explore their identities, and develop the tools they need to thrive. I love being a source of support as they navigate life’s transitions and build confidence in themselves along the way.

Can you illustrate the importance of a student being able to access a platform like Uwill?
For many students, college is the first time they’re truly navigating life on their own. It’s a season filled with change, growth, and uncertainty. They’re learning how to manage new responsibilities, make important decisions, build relationships, and discover who they are outside of the environments they’ve always known.

That newfound independence can be both exciting and overwhelming. While there are countless opportunities for growth, there can also be moments of self-doubt and stress. Having support during this transition can make a meaningful difference as students learn to trust themselves and step confidently into adulthood.

What aspect of your work do you enjoy the most?
One of the most rewarding parts of my work is helping students better understand themselves. Whether we’re exploring how their brain works, recognizing the protective role anxiety can play, developing coping skills that genuinely fit their needs, or navigating questions about identity and sexuality, I love being part of that journey of self-discovery.

I’ve experienced firsthand how transformative therapy can be, and it’s an honor to help students gain insight, build confidence, and create meaningful change in their own lives.

What are some skills you have learned from Uwill that you have been able to apply in your everyday practice?
One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned through my work with Uwill is how much can be accomplished in a focused 30-minute session. Working within that timeframe has challenged me to be intentional, prioritize what matters most, and help students make meaningful progress in a relatively short amount of time.

I’ve come to appreciate that effective therapy isn’t always about the length of a session—it’s about creating a space where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered to take their next steps. The skills I’ve developed through Uwill have become instrumental in my private practice as well, helping me structure sessions more effectively and make the most of our time together.

What was it that first attracted you to working with Uwill?
One of the first things that drew me to Uwill was its accessibility for students. I remember thinking, “Wow, I wish something like this had existed when I was in school.”

During my junior year of college, I experienced a period of depression and reached out to see the campus therapist. Unfortunately, I was told that her waitlist was too long and that I should seek therapy through a private practice instead. As a college student, therapy wasn’t financially accessible to me, so I ultimately gave up on the idea. Thankfully, I had a strong support system that helped me through that difficult time. Even so, having access to professional mental health support would have made a meaningful difference in my journey.

That’s why I’m especially proud to work with Uwill today. Being able to provide students with accessible, timely mental health support is incredibly meaningful to me, and I’m grateful to be part of a platform that helps remove barriers to care.

How has being a member of Uwill’s Counselor Community impacted you as a professional?
Working with Uwill has reinforced my passion for supporting individuals during pivotal moments of growth and self-discovery. I’ve become more efficient, more intentional, and more confident in helping clients identify goals and make progress.

Perhaps most importantly, being part of a platform that prioritizes accessible mental health care has been incredibly meaningful to me. As someone who struggled to access therapy as a college student, it’s rewarding to help remove barriers for today’s students and provide support when they need it most. Knowing that I can play a role in making mental health care more accessible is something I take great pride in as a therapist.

Would you recommend working with Uwill to a colleague?
Yes, working with Uwill has been such a great addition to my practice and I genuinely look forward to seeing the students!

What advice do you have for students who may be struggling during the summer months now that they are removed from their school-year routines?
Give yourself time to adjust. Change can be hard, even if it’s positive change! Try to keep a little structure in your days, stay connected to people who support you, and remember that feeling uncomfortable during a transition is often part of the process—not a sign that you’re doing it wrong.
