April Rising Star: Jessica Harrison, LCSW
Uwill’s Monthly Rising Star acknowledges one counselor every month who has “shined bright” in support of Uwill in their first year as a member of our counseling community. Congratulations, Jessica Harrison, LCSW!
Since joining the Uwill Uhelp team, Jessica has hit her first Uhelp milestone of providing 400 hours of support in just 4 months. She shows attentiveness to learning the workflows thoroughly and provides fantastic in the moment support for all of our students.
Check out our interview with Jessica as she discusses what brought her to Uwill, what she has learned from the students, and tips for students adjusting to new routines in the summer.

What excites you the most about working with Uwill
Being able to assist students with navigating life stressors and being a positive support for them in the moment.
Can you illustrate the importance of a student being able to access a platform like Uwill?
Access to a platform like Uwill is essential for reducing barriers to timely mental health care among students. Many face challenges such as long waitlists, stigma, or limited campus resources, which can delay treatment and worsen symptoms. Rapid access to licensed clinicians supports early intervention, helping prevent escalation of concerns that can negatively impact academic performance and overall functioning.
What aspect of your work do you enjoy the most
Talking to students from all over the country and from various cultural backgrounds has been the most enjoyable aspect for me. I have learned so much from students!
What are some skills you have learned from Uwill that you have been able to apply in your everyday practice?
Utilizing outside resources in moments of crisis and communication skills needed to not only figure out what is really causing concerns in someone, but also how to engage in a way that is not intimidating or threatening to them in order to provide the best possible care and solutions to their unique situations.
What was it that first attracted you to working with Uwill?
Being able to provide immediate support to those who need it.
How has being a member of Uwill’s Counselor Community impacted you as a professional?
It has challenged me and re-enforced in me that I can work well in high-stress situations.
With the summer approaching, what advice do you have for students needing to adjust to new settings and routines?
My advice would be to create a “rhythm” to their days, not a strict schedule but a few anchors like waking up around the same time, getting outside, and having something each day that gives them a sense of purpose. If they’re stepping into a new environment like a job, internship, or just being back home, to give themselves permission to adjust. Stay connected to people who make them feel grounded and don’t hesitate to lean on support, whether that’s friends, family, or something like Uwill. They don’t have to navigate the transition alone and a little intentionality can go a long way in helping them feel more themselves.
