July Rising Star: Heather K., LPC, LCADC

Uwill’s Monthly Rising Star acknowledges one counselor every month who has “shined bright” in support of Uwill in their first year as a member of our counseling community. Congratulations, Heather K., LPC, LCADC!  Since joining the Uwill Uhelp team, Heather has already provided over 350 hours of support. She provides excellent holding support for all our users ensuring their needs are met throughout the crisis engagement.

What excites you the most about working with Uwill?
Being able to give youth and college students more access to services.

Can you illustrate the importance of a student being able to access a platform like Uwill?
It gives the students the flexibility to schedule around their classes and work.

What aspect of your work do you enjoy the most?
Getting to work with different individuals and different needs.

What are some skills you have learned from Uwill that you have been able to apply in your everyday practice?
Skills I have learned are about helping others in more of a crisis situation.

What was it that first attracted you to working with Uwill?
A colleague was working with Uwill and it sounded like a great opportunity for me as well as different parts of Uwill such as Uhelp and Umatch.

How has being a member of Uwill’s Counselor Community impacted you as a professional?
It has helped me grow my toolbox of skills and having a good community of colleagues.

What advice do you have for students who may be struggling as the summer comes to an end and the new school year is on the horizon?
Transitions can be hard but change is also a good thing. Focusing on one day at a time and to use the supports and services available to them.
