February Hero of the Month: Aya Attia, LPC
Every month, we spotlight a counselor who has gone above and beyond for Uwill as our Hero of the Month. This month, we are delighted to recognize Aya Attia, LMFT, as Uwill’s Monthly Hero.
Since joining the Uwill team in January 2024, Aya has always gone above and beyond for Uwill. In that time, she’s had over 500 appointments, impacting the lives of students across New Jersey, all with a very high feedback rating.
Therefore, this month, we are delighted to recognize Aya as our Uwill Hero for all her contributions and support for our students and the larger Uwill community. Aya— thank you again for all you do. We are truly grateful for your support and commitment.
Check out our interview with Aya as she discusses students who need support in the moment, creating a space for students, and tips for students adjusting to new routines.

What excites you the most about working with Uwill?
What excites me most about working with Uwill is the chance to support students in a way that feels accessible and realistic for their lives. College can be such a stressful time, students can easily access services without waiting on long waitlists. I’m drawn to the idea of meeting students where they are and being able to provide support during moments when they may feel overwhelmed, uncertain about their future, or adjusting to new responsibilities.
Can you illustrate the importance of a student being able to access a platform like Uwill?
Access to a platform like Uwill is important because students often need support in the moment and not weeks later. When counseling is easy to access and can fit into the students schedule, they are more likely to reach out early instead of waiting till stress and anxiety become overwhelming. Having this support can help students stay emotionally balanced and better manage school and their personal life.
What aspect of your work do you enjoy the most?
I find it rewarding to create a space where students feel comfortable opening up, gaining insight and developing coping skills to manage day to day stressors.
What are some skills you have learned from Uwill that you have been able to apply in your everyday practice?
Through my work with Uwill, I’ve learned to be more intentional with session time and focus on practical strategies that students can use right away in their daily lives.
Would you recommend working with Uwill to a colleague?
Yes, I would, Working with Uwill is rewarding, supportive, and a great way to grow as a counselor while making a real difference for students.
Now that the New Year is underway, what advice do you have for students who may be adjusting to a new academic schedule or routine?
I would say focus on finding balance. Set a routine that includes classwork, breaks, and self-care. The goal is to find a healthy balance to manage your responsibilities but also taking care of yourself.
